Building Energy Rating (BER) Certificates
What is a BER?

A Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate rates your home's energy performance on a scale between A and G. A-Rated being the most efficient.

A BER is required if;

Applying for a Green Mortgage when home achieves a B3 rating or higher
Technical Assessments
In order to apply for a Heat Pump grant, all applications are required to have a Technical Assessment carried out by a Registered Technical Advisor.

The Technical Advisor advises on the suitability of the dwelling for a heat pump based on the building's heat loss indicator (HLI)
When necessary, advice will be provided on actions required to lower the dwelling's fabric heat loss to a level that's suitable for efficient and effective heat pump operation. The Heat Pump grant specifies a maximum heat loss level expressed as a Heat Loss Indicator of 2 W/K/m2.

Part L Compliance
For new homes and renovations, Technical Guidance Document Part L 2019 (TGL) requires that where major renovations are carried out on a building (i.e. where more than 25% of the surface envelope of the building undergoes renovations) , the energy performance of the whole building should be improved to an energy performance of 125kwh/m2/per year, or a B2 rating.

Before any Construction works are carried out checks can be preformed to verify that the proposed works will bring the building to the required standard outlined in TGL Part L 2019.
